Why did I choose Health Insurance?

If you had told me in high school, that I would select any career in the "insurance" industry, I would have likely been offended. After graduating from the University of Arizona, I began working in curriculum development, a job I loved, but wanted more skills to manage people. I completed an MBA from Brigham Young University and began working in industry. I managed a call center team generating leads for IT companies. While employed, I noticed the high premiums my employer was paying on my behalf. I also noticed each time I went to the doctor, I got a lot of paperwork that I wasn't sure why or how much I owed. I wanted to be a more informed consumer.

I began searching for a course that I could take that would help me understand my rights and the laws as far as health insurance was concerned. The only class I could find that would even come close was a course for my health and life insurance license. I scheduled a few days off work and enrolled. Five months later I was ready for a new opportunity, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do next. I wanted to begin teaching others about their rights when it comes to health insurance.

How Successful am I?

My clients love my honest and consultative approach. They have paid me the ultimate compliment by sharing my name with their friends when they have questions about health insurance. Only six months after starting my brokerage, I was able to move to a referral only business model. Although, I am not actively pursuing new clients, I am happy to help as much as possible.
